Not All Probiotics Are The Same

Not All Probiotics Are The Same

Are you and your family taking the right probiotic? What makes probiotics different than most supplements are they are live organisms. These live organisms interact with our immune system and our gastrointestinal system, and they're even being linked to the way our psychiatric and our neurological health are related. They're super important, and we're just in the infancy of fully understanding all of what probiotics can do and which strains we should use.

The FDA does not regulate the manufacturing or labeling of probiotics, and so as a consumer, it's sometimes hard to know which product you should choose for your family. Some are labeled very detailed and accurately, others are purposely vague.

Unclear Labeling
As live organisms, manufacturers must be very careful to maintain safety and quality. First, they have to keep the organisms in probiotics alive when they make them. Then they have to be transported in a safe manner to keep them alive (this is costly). Finally, they have to be given to you as a consumer. Some manufacturers will label a product for how many colony forming units were it in at the time of manufacture with no regard to how much is in it when you consume it. It’s quite possible that the number of colony forming units are greatly reduced by the time you take them. This is not the right way to label a probiotic.

Labeled for Expiration Date vs. Time of Manufacturing
At Purely Integrative, I’ve hand selected all the probiotics we carry after understanding manufacturing and distribution policies, and their labeling policy. Here’s the most important thing: all of the products we offer are labeled for the time of consumption at the end of the expiration date instead of at the time of manufacturing.

Probiotics Differ By Quantity, Form and Ingredients
Our products can vary quite significantly from five billion to 900 billion colonies, and everywhere in between. We offer shelf-stable products and refrigerated products, as well as chewables, capsules, and powders. We've chosen cost-effective and viable products, that are not contaminated with cows milk or other things that you may find sensitives to.  If you have any questions, you can contact us at info@purelyintegrative.com.  Here are some of our most popular probiotics:
